BRIGHT 2019 in Big Sandy Region

BRIGHT 2019 visited the Big Sandy Region (Pikeville, Prestonsburg, Paintsville) in early September. The cohort spent time hearing about UPIKE and their collaboration with Pikeville Medical Center. They visited the home place of Loretta Lynn, Stone Crest Golf Course (reclaimed mine), and Pikeville Medical Center. The session ended with attendance at the SOAR Summit.

Leadership Kentucky 2019 in Western Kentucky

The Leadership Kentucky Class of 2019 recently visited Western Kentucky. The Class toured three Alliance Coal Mines: River View, Elk Creek, and Warrior. A visit to Eddyville and the Kentucky State Penitentiary followed. The session ended at Lake Barkley State Park.

Gov. Bevin Announces ARC Funding for New Leadership Program in Eastern and Southeastern Kentucky

Gov. Matt Bevin’s office today announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has approved a $500,000 grant for the Leadership Kentucky Foundation to help create a new leadership program targeting young professionals in the Kentucky Appalachian corridor, named BRIGHT Kentucky. BRIGHT Kentucky is made possible by the ARC grant and private funding from the Whitaker Foundation and others.

Elevate 2019 in Prestonsburg
