From engaging conversations and interesting tours to fascinating presentations and delicious food, the first session of our Elevate Kentucky program was outstanding. Our session took us to Owensboro, where our program kicked off with introductions and a presentation about ethics from Father Larry Hostetter, President of Brescia University. We then toured The International Bluegrass Music Museum, followed by a presentation from the President and CEO of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, Candance Brake. Dinner from Old Hickory BBQ topped off our official time together on Wednesday.

Thursday began with an interactive presentation from the Oliver Group, lunch, and remarks from Sara Hemingway with The Marilyn and William Young Foundation. Elizabeth Griffith, Clay Ford, and other special guests met with us at the Wendell H. Ford Government Education Center to continue our day there. Later that afternoon, we heard from Joe Berry and Madison Silvert with The Malcolm Bryant Corporation about the history of Owensboro followed by a walking tour of downtown. The day wrapped up with delightful drinks and dinner at The Miller House.

To conclude our first session of the Elevate program on Friday, we had a wonderful morning at UniFirst, complete with a tour and presentation. Our final speaker, Coach Colene left us on a positive note through her “Be the CEO of You” talk.
