"Leadership Kentucky expands programming to reflect evolution of Kentucky's business climate"

Leadership Kentucky, a prestigious leadership development organization, has begun incorporating unique and new content to reflect the evolution of the state’s business climate since its creation more than three decades ago.

New Executives to Kentucky is one of three new programs offered by Leadership Kentucky. It began with the Class of 2014 and introduces students to the culture of the Commonwealth as well as issues important to the future of Kentucky.

From the economic outlook to public policy and even tours of some of Kentucky’s signature industries, the New Executives to Kentucky program hopes to set students on a path to success that will benefit the Commonwealth.

Created in 1984, Leadership Kentucky now boasts more than 1,600 graduates. Corbett says the changing history of Kentucky provides plenty of content for students.

“We’ve made progress over the years and we recalibrate,” said Corbett. “What we try to do is bring everybody together with a better understanding so they can go back to their home communities and companies and make Kentucky a better place to work and call home.”

Chuck Session, vice president of community affairs for Duke Energy and a Class of 2016 graduate, says the experience helped him to gain a more informed perspective of the opportunities available for the citizens of the Commonwealth.

“I can take that knowledge and information back to my local community and say, ‘What am I going to do to make a difference?’ It’s up to me individually,” he said.

Session and Corbett say the opportunities provided by Leadership Kentucky extend beyond their time in the program. They say the alumni support is invaluable.
