Message From the 2010 Chair

It is my great pleasure and honor to assume the chairmanship of Leadership Kentucky for this 26^th year of pursuing our mission to identify and support leaders that can make a difference for our Commonwealth.  I certainly have large “shoes to fill” as Barbara Jones’ leadership during one of the most successful years in Leadership Kentucky history has been extraordinary.  In spite of a soft economy, Barbara with great help from Leadership Kentucky staff, welcomed another great class while successfully reintroducing many alums to our mission with the 25^th anniversary celebration.  Barb, we thank you for your impeccable commitment—you set a great example for all Kentuckians.

During these challenging times it is more important than ever to invest in our future.  I am proud that the historic investment in Leadership Kentucky has yielded incredible returns.  Over 1,300 leaders have completed the program in the last quarter century encompassing some of the most influential Kentuckians including several governors, United States Senators, as well as some of the state’s most renowned educational and business leaders.  As anecdotally evidenced by participant commentary, Leadership Kentucky has certainly shaped and influenced many, providing the unique opportunity to experience the impact that certain strategies and actions have on the lives of Kentuckians. 

As we proceed to address the challenges and opportunities of 2010 and beyond the importance of benefitting our future leaders with the knowledge that only Leadership Kentucky can provide, will be paramount.  We ask each of you to continue your investment in our commonwealth’s future along with encouraging others to “make a difference”.
